why is it that i never really know what i'm doing?

i went to school. got the 27k in debt to prove it. they taught me all kindsa nifty stuff.

and yet, what do i do when an 8 year old pees on the floor in a stream from the self checks to the kids computers? (and just how big is an 8 year old's bladder anyway?) what do i do when a man with garlic and steak breath professes his undying love to me. again. for the 3rd time today.

this is a chronicle of what i did, when the crazy happened. which, in a public library is much more often than you'd think. and which, they also don't teach you about in liberry skool.

oh, and there's also a book review or two.

Girls in White DressesGirls in White Dresses by Jennifer Close

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Close, Jennifer. Girls in White Dresses. 7 CDs. 8 Hours. Books on Tape. 2011. ISBN: 978-0-307-93934-0 $35.00. F

In this debut novel, college girlfriends, Isabella, Mary and Lauren move to NYC to be grownups after they graduate. The reader witnesses as the friends meander through first loves, triumphs, downfalls and awful brides maid dresses; all while aiming directly at their 30th birthdays. Told in short vignettes that alternate between each girl, moving some to the background while bringing others forward, Girls is like a long Seinfeld episode in which nothing happens except that hilarity ensues. The many female characters can be difficult to keep track of, though, all are in some way related to Isabella giving her center stage. Emily Janice Card animates each character with different voices and accents making them easier to distinguish. A quick, light, chick-lit read, recommended to fans of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series by Ann Brashares.
