When She Woke by Hillary JordanMy rating: 4 of 5 stars
i absolutely loved the idea of chromes, making people's skin color match their crimes so that we don't have to jail them? almost an attractive idea:) except, that, as usual, absolute power corrupts and in this novel, with church and state joined, chroming is a form of new world lynching with mostly blacks and low incomes being chromed. oh, and pro-choicers who had an abortion. i liked the main character's development from someone who was raised in the little boxed in, evangelical point of view finally coming to terms with her self and developing her own idea of who god is to her. a fast paged page turner as well. would not reccomend to teens, due to sex scenes (not graphic, but who wants the headache?, they'll find it anyway:).
